Air Pumps

Air Pumps- An aquarium air pump is a device that injects air by powering air stones into a tank’s water. At the top of a tank, oxygen enters the water, and carbon dioxide is released with the help of surface agitation. Without this agitation, carbon dioxide cannot leave the water and oxygen cannot enter

Why do we need an air pump in the aquarium?
An air pump simply bubbles air through your tank by using an air stone or something. Air pumps serve two purposes. First, they insure that your tank maintains an adequate concentration of oxygen. An air pump is NOT required for this purpose, as long as your tank maintains adequate water movement together with surface agitation.

An air pump does not act as a filter. Primarily, air pumps are used in aquariums to add oxygen to the water. They may be utilized, to provide a rising stream of bubbles that can circulate or draw water through a filter. In this manner, an air pump serves to power a water pump.
